James A. Pupillo, CIMA®, CIMC®, C(k)P®, GFS™

Jim has been involved in the Investment Management Consulting Advisory business since 1987. Jim is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for LDI Advisers, a Registered Investment Adviser firm. Jim is also Founder of iJoin, which provides Retirement Plan Sponsors, Advisors and Recordkeepers, innovative financial technology automation designed to effectively enhance Plan Participant retirement income security resources. Jim Co-chairs the investment committee.

Jim began his career in 1987 with E.F. Hutton’s Consulting Group, which evolved into Morgan Stanley’s Graystone Institutional Consulting until December 2011. Since 2012 he has been serving in the Registered Investment Advisers (RIA) business as a Fiduciary Adviser. Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management-Administration and Marketing from Indiana University-Bloomington.

Jim earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation in 1997, and Investment Strategist Certification in 2004, both offered by the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) through the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. Jim has been past president of the Institute for Investment Management Consultants – IIMC (1994) and the Association for Investment Professional Investment Consultants – APIC (2004). Jim was awarded 3 of 4 APIC awards for leadership, innovation and client dedication.

In 2006 he completed, as Valedictorian, the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) through the Center for Fiduciary Studies. In 2012 Jim attended The Retirement Advisor University (TRAU) at the UCLA Anderson School of Management Executive Education to complete the Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P™) program and became their inaugural Arizona Adjunct Lecturer for TRAU’s Plan Sponsor University. Jim has also served on the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) Government Affairs Committee. Jim completed the American Indian Policy Institute Tribal Financial Management Certification (TFMC) program in 2012 at Arizona State University. In 2013 Jim also obtained the Global Fiduciary Strategist (GFS©) designation awarded by 3ethos and the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management.

Jim has lecturer, has several published articles and contributed to several books regarding advanced portfolio construction and fiduciaries responsibility. Jim has served on multiple industry and Eleemosynary charitable boards. He formally served on the Music Instrument Museum Advisory Board and Help in Healing Home (HIHH) at Mayo Clinic Village Foundation Board.

CFO-LDI Advisers

David Brasfield, CEPA®, C(k)P®, CRPS™, GFS™

David began his financial services career with Smith Barney’s Consulting Group in 1996, which later became Graystone Consulting, now the institutional division of Morgan Stanley. Since his career began, he has been serving individuals, business retirement plans and their plan participants. Since 2012 he has been serving in the Registered Investment Advisory business as a Fiduciary Adviser. He is LDI Advisers’ Chief Financial Officer (CFO), managing our financial, retirement, and net-worth “goals-based” planning resources. Passionate about financial planning and wealth management he helps business owner clients align and prepare their personal financial planning and investment management needs in advance of their business sale.

David served as a member of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC), and on the APIC “K-Group” technology committee providing innovative resources for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Retirement Plan Advisors. He was also President of the Phoenix Chapter of the Institute for Investment Management Consultants (IIMC).

In 2007 he obtained the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist® (CRPS®) designation to help businesses with their various Retirement Plans. He completed the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) program through the Center for Fiduciary Studies. David attended The Retirement Advisor University (TRAU) at the UCLA Anderson School of Management Executive Education to complete the Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P™) program and served with the Adjunct Lecturer for The Retirement Advisor University (TRAU) Plan Sponsor University education program hosted at the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

In 2013 David obtained the Global Fiduciary Strategist (GFS©) designation awarded by 3ethos and the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management. Most recently, David obtained the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) designation from the Exit Planning Institute to help business owners with their business exit planning strategies.

David attended Central Washington University, majoring in Aviation with a minor in Business Administration. He calls Phoenix home and is an active member of his church, enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters, the outdoors and community service events throughout greater Phoenix.

COO-LDI Advisers

Aaron Brasfield, GFS™

Aaron has been with LDI Advisers since 2017. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), he brings decades of financial, operational, and administrative experience directly serving our clientele.

Aaron worked within our group at E.F. Hutton Consulting Group, now Morgan Stanley’s Graystone Institutional Consulting, where he focused on account administration and operations. Previously, he also served as a commercial loan Portfolio Manager for Bank One in Phoenix, Arizona. Aaron is well-versed in providing clients with an institutional yet concierge Client experience. Since 2012 he has been serving in the Registered Investment Advisory business as Director of Operations/Administration.

Aaron earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Washington State University. He completed the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) program through the Center for Fiduciary Studies. In 2013 Aaron obtained the Global Fiduciary Strategist (GFS©) designation awarded by 3ethos and the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management.

CIO-LDI Advisers

Darren Evans, CIMA®, C(k)P®, GFS™

Darren is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for LDI Advisers for LDI Advisers, a Registered Investment Adviser firm. For over 25 years, he has provided institutional, retirement plan and private client advisory services and has established himself as a respected specialist in research & analytics, operational infrastructure and asset management consulting. He serves as the Co-chair of the investment committee, administers retirement plan client relationships, and provides asset management, wealth advisory and planning services to Private Clients.

He began his career in 1999 as an Institutional Research Analyst Smith Barney’s Consulting Group, and through various mergers, both Citi Institutional Consulting and Morgan Stanley Graystone. Since 2012 he has been serving in the Registered Investment Advisory business as a Fiduciary Adviser. He manages LDI Advisers’ fully open-architecture platforms and information technology resources.
He graduated from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance & Economics. He earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation through the Wharton School of Business. He completed the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) program through the Center for Fiduciary Studies. In 2013 Darren obtained the Global Fiduciary Strategist (GFS©) designation awarded by 3ethos and the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management. As a Global Fiduciary Strategist (GFS©), Darren subscribes to the philosophy that Leadership, Stewardship and Governance are the primary drivers to decision‐making when serving in critical Fiduciary leadership roles. In addition, as a Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P™) earned through UCLA Anderson Executive Education, Darren further exemplifies both academic aptitude and real-world core competencies related to servicing retirement plans.

Combining his passion for cycling, triathlon, and community development, Darren is a planning member and participant of “Bikes Fight Poverty” an annual cycling event benefitting 1Mission.org, an international non‐profit organization focused on providing impoverished communities and families long-term housing. Darren and his family frequently travel to Latin America to build homes in the communities they serve. Along with his partners, Darren has served on multiple industry and Eleemosynary charitable boards.

Frank Gesuale, MBA, C(k)P®, GFS™

Frank is an Institutional and Private Client Fiduciary Adviser at LDI Advisers. When he joined us in 2013, Frank brought more than 30 years of senior management business and board governance experience to the group.

Prior to joining us, Frank performed the duties of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, where he worked closely with senior management to implement operational plans, drive marketing and business development strategies, and partner finance with core operations to increase enterprise value. He has a broad cross-section of industry experience that includes financial services, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, fabrication, distribution and aggregate mining.

Frank earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. Frank completed the Certified 401(k) Professional™ – C(k)P™ program and holds the Global Fiduciary Strategist™ – GFS© designation.

Frank has also served on the boards of several public, private and community-based non-profit organizations.
